How Facebook look at your pictures

Do you ever wonder what does the complex algorithm running behind in the Facebook server does to find out the details about your pictures uploaded to Facebook. Facebook internally does a lot of processing to determine the content of the picture. It check the number of persons in the picture, background scene identification whether it is indoor or outdoor, people’s expression if are they smiling, playing sports, sky, mountains to name a few.

If you want to check what the alternative information about your uploaded image is stored by Facebook follow this simple procedure.

1. Open the image in the browser.

2. Go to developer’s view (almost every browser supports the developer’s view now a days). If you are using chrome browser right click on the picture and click on Inspect.


3. Use the cursor icon to select on the image tag.
